Noted Bay Area Chef Julieann Morre will be demonstrating a Four-Course dinner that will give you an incredible base for future meals. Starting with Puff Pastry, we will create a range of hors d'oeuvres and use as a base for an incredible first course. As the main we will make pasta from scratch, and finish with an elegant cake and an exceptional cookie.
Complimentary local wines will be paired with the meal by our resident sommelier.
What an amazing turn out! The Gluten Free Meetup group really came through and the stories of those with Celiac Disease, Gluten sensitivities and allergies, and those who were just choosing to live without were astounding! Julieann Moore was incredible, not only were her recipes great but her teaching style was laid back and incredibly helpful. We got a ton of interest for future GF classes so I'll be working on getting those dialed in.
The location of the class was at the Paulding and Company kitchen in Emeryville. If you haven't seen it already check out the movie Hereafter. The first third of the movie Matt Damon's character was based there. Yeah, I'll admit it, I squealed standing where he stood and thinking about using the same equipment as him. Just an FYI, this space is EXPENSIVE, so if anyone is concerned about the cost of classes being held there, that's why. But it is a killer space, fully stocked with equipment, and have I mentioned that MATT DAMON COOKED THERE?!
An added bonus that was genius on my part was to hit up local vendors for gift bag goodies. As soon as I started making phone calls I had people start calling me to ask if their products could be included in the event...um, yes please! Urban Legend donated some killer wines, Crispin donated amazing ciders, and Raw Decadence donated one of my favorite products of all time, their Piccolinos. Other vendors contacted me after the fact (while it was a genius idea on my part, I came up with it at the last minute) and are intending on donating for future events. Yay!
